Do you know what the Clubhouse app is? They asked me a few days ago, and the truth was I had no idea. With the first readings we knew the basics: it’s a new exclusive social network that we can only access by invitation.
So at Roman’s Media we look in our contacts to get access that same day, so we can tell you from inside what this social network is about. Let’s keep going!
So what is the Clubhouse app about?
The app, only available for iOS for now, is the only way to a social network launched in March 2020, unlike everything that currently exists on the first line of social networks, Clubhouse is based entirely on voice. Each user has the possibility of creating a room in which a conversation between avatars is generated, there is no video or text, or chats. Within each room there are one or more moderators, as well as the people who are an active part of the conversation.
As soon as you enter the room, your automatic role is listener, then if you want to participate you just have to «raise your hand» within the app so that a moderator can consider «getting on stage» as speaker. At this point you can actively participate in the conversation.
Being a social network that you access by invitation, it maintains a certain character of exclusivity and its progress towards the non-english speaking public has been slow. However, in the North American market it has users like Joe Biden, Ashton Kutcher and many other people and influencers who have given it an interesting push and apparently difficult to stop by other social networks.
What is the Clubhouse app differential?
First of all, no social network has managed to capitalize on the audio section and Clubhouse has an apparent free way to do so. With a light, well-kept interface and fairly clean audio, the application gathers more and more engagement among users of other social networks.
This network offers the opportunity to chat in real time with people that in another social network would be almost impossible. There is also something very important. CONVERSATIONS ARE NOT SAVED, so if you want to be part of the conversation, you better be there at the time they occur.
In this last point lies part of what has been the success of the rooms because, who wants to miss an interesting conversation?
How has been our experience on the social network?
When setting up your account you do the same as in other social networks, make a selection of interests and follow some recommended people. This prior process, as well as the connection with the person who invited you, generated us recommendations for rooms to access. Once we enter the room the conversation begins immediately. While listening, we were able to touch the avatars of the people who are participating to learn more about who they are and the networks they have connected.
We’ve been in different conversations since then and made interesting connections, plus it meets the main requirement of successful social media – it’s addictive! The rooms that we have seen so far are from people who have dedicated themselves to providing a lot of value.
